They are between 26 and 54 years old and, in a few weeks, they should obtain their certificate of professional aptitude (CAP) in the kitchen. A diploma which should open up new professional horizons for the eleven women of the first Toulouse promotion of the system ” Stars and Women ».

For nine months, Karine, Grace, Josseline and the other apprentices of this promotion followed a training at the CFA of Blagnacalternating with internships in restaurants in the Pink City.
“Des étoiles et des femmes was created eight years ago in Marseilles by chef Alain Ducasse. everything, are passionate about cooking.
Internship in restaurants in Toulouse

Josseline is one of eleven Toulouse students in the scheme. Coming from Chile, she wants, with this CAP, to obtain a diploma equivalent to the one she had in her country of origin. It was the Bellefontaine guidance center that directed her to Des étoiles et des femmes.
“The training was sometimes a bit difficult because I don’t speak perfect French. But I worked and I got good grades! I also did an internship in a great restaurant, Les Jardins de la Cépière, I liked it a lot. The chef was very attentive, he let me do it and I was able to progress. »
“Stars and women” allows apprentices to do their internships alongside local gastronomy chefs. In Toulouse, Le Soulier, Le Rocher de la Vierge or Les Folles saisons welcomed interns.

Nine months instead of 24 months
The training is completed in nine months instead of the 24 usually required for a CAP cuisine. A big plus for Grace, a 28-year-old mother.
“Getting a diploma in less than a year was a great opportunity: for me it was easy to go back to school under these conditions,” explains the young woman. I worked in the kitchen of an nursing home, but I wanted to do more than clerk work. Now I want to start my own business. »
She will be able to benefit from support for this once she has obtained her diploma.
Since the launch of “Des étoiles et des femmes”, nearly 500 women in France have been coached. 98% of them obtained their CAP and 70% found employment within six months of graduation.

Future students can apply
The recruitment of the next promotion of “Stars and women” has just started. While a large number of candidates are referred by Pôle Emploi, the project coordinators also organize workshops to meet women isolated from employment and passionate about cooking.
With this in mind, a cooking workshop was set up on Tuesday May 16 between the apprentices of the year and women from the Trois Cocus district, some of whom are planning to create a restaurant.
Workshops on nutrition, sustainable food issues or cooking will be scheduled for the next few weeks.
