Ahh sorry to hear it didn’t work out for you… it seems like maybe your leavening agent may indeed be off- are you measuring everything correctly and baking math the specified time? sometimes if you bake it less than the time specifies it can be more like a brownie than a cake. Hope this helps!

2:05 This entire section is WRONG! Maybe the video editor screwed up. If you MELT a cup of butter and add the milk and the everything else, the frosting still comes out very liquid.
Hi Radha, it isn’t a cup of butter, it’s a bit less! And sorry to hear it didn’t work out for you, but I’m not sure the recipe is a problem. I adapted it from Hershey’s and it’s quite a popular icing recipe. Perhaps your butter was too hot? it should at RT after melting.
@Hot Chocolate Hits 1 Cup of melted butter + 2/3 cup milk + 2 tsp of vanilla extract. That’s a lot of liquid to mix with 6 cups of powder sugar. Have you checked your frosting recipe?

I’m not vegan but my best friend is, he is having a potluck dinner for his birthday so I decided to make a vegan cake for him, I was so scared cause the last cake I am completely crumbled apart, but this one is super like oily and moist so it hasn’t fallen apart, cant wait to try it
That’s normal! Especially when you take the cake from very hot too cold. I wouldn’t worry too much about the cracks, you can always use a serrated knife to trim the cake, and that’s what you have the frosting for!

The cake is delicious but it is too too sweet and salty. I reduced the sugar by 25% yet still find it sweet. The butter milk is also super sweet I think sugar content can be reduced further to make it healthier.
It was less moist and more oily. I made this like twice and I did not really love the result each time. It’s not bad, I know it’s hard to make a moist VEGAN cake but it’s nowhere near the quality as cake from a bakery.
I haven’t tried that so I’m not sure how it will turn out… I imagine the flavour might be a bit different. That being said, give it a try! let me know how it works.

Dairy alternatives are very expensive from where I’m from, and therefore I made it without the frosting for now. So I’m really glad I found this recipe. My non vegan family had no idea that it was vegan and they loved it too

Tip. Reduce the amount of sugar like to 350g…
Reduce the amount of oil like 1/3 cup
Reduce amount of baking soda into 1 tsp or 1 1/2 tsp.

It’s just instant coffee powder 🙂 You can leave it out if it’s not available!

Before layering the buttercream, I recommend hidrating the cake with a bit of plant based milk of choice so it doesn’t taste dry

I would say either the leavening agents you used weren’t fresh, or perhaps you underbaked the cake!
i tried this just right now and its superrrrr good, tho i would say it wouldve tasted better with white sugar 🙂
