    1. Ok I’m totally late but I’m JUST now making this… I got it in my oven right now… can’t wait to try it!!!!

  1. Ive tried baking this one 2 times already; however, I always get the same result, a more fudge brownie texture. What am I doing wrong? could it be that I need to use a more premium vinegar? Also, why dont you use baking powder to help it rise?

    1. Ahh sorry to hear it didn’t work out for you… it seems like maybe your leavening agent may indeed be off- are you measuring everything correctly and baking math the specified time? sometimes if you bake it less than the time specifies it can be more like a brownie than a cake. Hope this helps!

  2. Hi MS. Santana here great recipe but could you please include the recipes easily without we having to go to another website or take an extra step just to find a nice recipe ?

    1. Hi, thanks for your comment. I prefer to add the recipe to my blog, because the video is only a few minutes long and I like to take the space of my blog to explain all the tips and troubleshooting.

    1. The reaction between the baking soda and other acidic ingredients, like vinegar!

    1. Hi Nisha! I don’t measure cakes by weight- it makes a large 9 inch cake. Does this help?

  3. 2:05 This entire section is WRONG! Maybe the video editor screwed up. If you MELT a cup of butter and add the milk and the everything else, the frosting still comes out very liquid.

    1. Hi Radha, it isn’t a cup of butter, it’s a bit less! And sorry to hear it didn’t work out for you, but I’m not sure the recipe is a problem. I adapted it from Hershey’s and it’s quite a popular icing recipe. Perhaps your butter was too hot? it should at RT after melting.

    2. @Hot Chocolate Hits 1 Cup of melted butter + 2/3 cup milk + 2 tsp of vanilla extract. That’s a lot of liquid to mix with 6 cups of powder sugar. Have you checked your frosting recipe?

    3. @Radha K. Ugo The recipe works, I’ve made it dozens of times. Sorry you didn’t like it.

  4. Thank you do much! 🙂 I made this cake with some whipped cream, ganache, and cookie crumbles, and it turned out AMAZING!
Even my vegan sceptic boyfriend couldn’t stop eating it LOL

    1. It’s just instant coffee powder 🙂 You can leave it out if it’s not available!

  5. I made this cake and it was Amazing. One of the best vegan chocolate cakes.
    Thank You for posting.

  6. I’m not vegan but my best friend is, he is having a potluck dinner for his birthday so I decided to make a vegan cake for him, I was so scared cause the last cake I am completely crumbled apart, but this one is super like oily and moist so it hasn’t fallen apart, cant wait to try it

  7. So I wanna try it because is vegan. 😋 Even I have skinallergy so no egg recipe this cake. ❤️🍰

    1. That’s normal! Especially when you take the cake from very hot too cold. I wouldn’t worry too much about the cracks, you can always use a serrated knife to trim the cake, and that’s what you have the frosting for!

    2. @Hot Chocolate Hits ohmygoodness you replied!! Thank you 🥺❤️ I haven’t tried the frosting yet, I do a coconut milk glaze and it goes so well! It has become such a favorite everyone wants it for their birthday 🥳😘 thank you!!

  8. This is the first ever perfect cake I made. I do recommend this to all those vegans…..Never feels like eggless…

  9. The cake is delicious but it is too too sweet and salty. I reduced the sugar by 25% yet still find it sweet. The butter milk is also super sweet I think sugar content can be reduced further to make it healthier.

  10. It was less moist and more oily. I made this like twice and I did not really love the result each time. It’s not bad, I know it’s hard to make a moist VEGAN cake but it’s nowhere near the quality as cake from a bakery.

    1. hmmm I never have this issue. In fact I make it more than the recipe I do with eggs! Sorry to hear you didn’t like it.

    1. I haven’t tried that so I’m not sure how it will turn out… I imagine the flavour might be a bit different. That being said, give it a try! let me know how it works.

  11. I used to love baking and I recently went vegan. The thought that I won’t be able to bake like I used to made me kinda sad. Dairy alternatives are very expensive from where I’m from, and therefore I made it without the frosting for now. So I’m really glad I found this recipe. My non vegan family had no idea that it was vegan and they loved it too

  12. I am 12 years old, this was quiet easy and I just kept the cake in the oven. I am so excited to see how it turns out
After tasting it: it turned out amazing and chocolaty..
Guys believe this recipe its excellent..
Tip. Reduce the amount of sugar like to 350g…
Reduce the amount of oil like 1/3 cup
Reduce amount of baking soda into 1 tsp or 1 1/2 tsp.
    Keep up ur good work..
    Lysm..
    Thnx for the awesome recipe..
    Have a nice day….
    Xoxo

    1. you can try! not sure it would come out exactly the same but doesn’t hurt to give it ago!

  13. Made it yesterday, I only skipped the vinegar because I didn’t have any, but it turned out delicious and was really easy to make!

    1. You can try coconut oil but I am not sure whether other oils would work as I’ve never tried! If you try it out, let me know how it works out!

    1. Yes you can! But you will have a slight olive oil taste since it has a distinct flavour.

  14. I’m not vegan but I LOVE this cake. It’s really delicious and you can’t even tell that there’s no chocolate in it. Definitely a top 3 best cake!❤️ thanks for the recipe ❤️

  15. Before layering the buttercream, I recommend hidrating the cake with a bit of plant based milk of choice so it doesn’t taste dry

    1. I would say either the leavening agents you used weren’t fresh, or perhaps you underbaked the cake!

  16. i tried this just right now and its superrrrr good, tho i would say it wouldve tasted better with white sugar 🙂

    1. @Hot Chocolate Hits thanks! But.. if you can’t buy it right now 😫 and I really wanna try the recipe, is there anything that can replace it?
